The Green Media Project aims to empower environmental and other social change groups by providing quality information about issues not adequately addressed by the mainstream media. This project consists of three components: a website, a newspaper, and a video-magazine. The website, www.tngreen.com, posts news and information about environmental happenings throughout the state.
The newspaper, Hellbender Press, is devoted to the protection and preservation of the East Tennessee environment through objective and advocacy reporting. See featured articles from the Hellbender Press online at www.tngreen.com/Hellbender.Hellbender Videomagazine broadcasts important environmental and social justice issues and events on Knoxville's CTV. The hellbender, a native salamander, is an indicator species because it is especially sensitive to toxins. It can therefore indicate the presence of pollution before other species are affected by it.

For information about the paper or video-magazine, contact 673-0542 or hellbender@tngreen.com.
