Our Mission

FGS works to restore the balance between human activities and the natural life support systems of the Earth.

FGS events and publications, special reports, and outreach inform and educate the public about vital regional and global issues and how they interdepend.

FGS monitors the environmental health and sustainability of the Upper Tennessee Valley and the Southern Appalachian Mountains. FGS also acts as an incubator for new environmentally and socially responsible nonprofit organizations.
